SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 13

(By Senator Humphreys)

Urging the federal government to reveal to the people of West Virginia all information it possesses concerning the wrongs committed by former Governor Arch Moore.

Whereas, Arch Moore last held the office of governor in this state from 1985 through 1989; and
Whereas, Arch Moore was indicted for and pled guilty to public corruption charges brought by the federal government after a massive criminal investigation which involved the gathering of information in the form of testimony and documents; and
Whereas, A civil action is pending which is intended to recover moneys wrongfully lost or diverted as the result of Arch Moore's corruption; and
Whereas, Upon Arch Moore pleading guilty to said charges, the federal government sealed the testimony and documents from public examination in spite of Arch Moore being a high public official whose corruption involved the public trust; and
Whereas, The people of West Virginia have the right to know the facts involving Arch Moore's misdeeds in view of the position of public trust that he held when such misdeeds were committed; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate:
That the federal government is urged to reveal to the people of West Virginia all information it possesses concerning the wrongs committed by former Governor Arch Moore; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the United States attorney for the southern district of West Virginia.
